Citra is a Nintendo 3DS emulator. It is completely free, multi system and open source, made by a team of developers known as Citra Team. It can emulate sound completely, something that RYUJINX can not do. Multiplayer through networked WiFi is supported, which lets you play multiplayer games with other people, though they have to be using Citra. You can not play multiplayer with individuals which are using a real Nintendo 3DS.

Installation of Citra works with Windows, MacOS, Linux, and Android, although the Android version is in early access as of now. The overall consensus is that Citra installation is very easy, fast, and quite straightforward, with a great deal of guides and tutorials offered for you. While choosing Citra, you may select between two variants, both of which have advantages and pitfalls to use. The more stable version is Citra Nightly, which is the much more secure version of Citra. The next version, called Citra Canary, includes new features, modifications, and updates that Nightly doesn't have. These attributes are sometimes experimental and may or may not wind up in the Nightly variant, but they're often features that can not be employed with greater functionality, or features that cause the game to lag or work improperly during gameplay.

You want Windows 7, 8, or 10 to perform either Citra variation on Windows. To perform on MacOS, you'll need version 10.13 High Sierra or even higher. To play on Linux, you'll need a 64-bit contemporary edition, and Android 8 is needed to run Citra on any and all Android apparatus. Officially, all hardware must be at least 64-bit to operate Citra's applications. To play games, then you will need both a Nintendo 3DS and a game controller. Citra includes a large assortment of games which you could playwith, but you must get the game cartridge of each game you want to play. This will make gameplay very inconvenient.
